Dr. Rajiv Kumar Director & Chief Executive, (ICRIER) Former Chief Economist, CII

Director and Chief Executive, ICRIER since February 2006. Part-time Non-official Director on  the Central Board of Directors of State   Bank of India since 8th September 2008 onwards, Former Member of the National Security Advisory Board, Member Telecom Regulatory Authority of India since January 2007. Dr. Kumar was with ICRIER earlier as Senior Fellow from 1982 to 1987. Chief Economist:   Confederation of Indian Industry from August 2004 to January 2006. Research Staff:  Asian Development Bank, Manila (1995-2004) worked on South Asia, Central Asia China, and Mongolia in the Research Department. Economic Adviser:     Dept. of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India. Senior Consultant: (In charge of the Economics Division) Bureau of Industrial Costs and Projects, Ministry of Industry. Professor:  Indian Institute of Foreign Trade from 1987-89 Dr. Kumar Completed D.Phil. in Economics from Oxford University in 1982 and Ph.D. in Economics from Lucknow University in 1978. He has several books and publications to his credit and contributes regularly to newspapers and journals.
