Ph.D. (Educational Pschology) from Delhi University, Fulbright Scholar, Harvard University, Cambridge, USA; Former Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka State Open University, Mysore; Senior Adviser, All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.  She has authored/edited  eight books including Educational Policies in India-A review and Analysis of Promise and Performance(NIEPA), Planning and Management of Technical Education(AICTE),Institutions Deemed to be Universities (Banasthali and NIEPA) Management of autonomy in Autonomous colleges (Vikas)), Catch Them Young; Vocationalisation for Employability (Sterling), Open learning System (Lancer International), and more than hundred research papers, articles, monographs, self learning modules, case studies, Best Practices published in national and international journals, Books etc. The Honors and awards  she  received  include the prestigious Centenarian Sewa Ratna Award for the outstanding services in the chosen field (2005), Late Kalpana Chawla Award for lifetime achievement ( 2005), Delhi Vishista Kannadiga Award  (2004), Best teacher award (2002) and has been felicitated by several universities and other academic organizations. She participated in several national and international conferences and has chaired the Task Force of Manipur State Higher Education Commission; Member, Task Force, Karnataka State Higher Education Commission; Member, Karnataka Knowledge Commission, Member, AIU Standing Committee; Member Secretary, Technical Education 5th Pay Revision Committee; Chairperson, NAAC Peer Review Committee, Member and Chair person of several national and state level committees constituted by MHRD; UGC; AICTE; NCTE; NAAC; IGNOU; DEC, Selection Committees, Search Committees, expert Review Groups at the national and state level, governing Bodies; Academic Councils, Board of Management etc. at the institution level. She is consulted by British Council, UNDP, UNESCO, ESCAP etc. and has travelled widely to different countries including to USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Hongkong etc.  on academic assignments.
